14 August 2002, Kyiv. A new version of the web portal of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has been developed. Anyone interested can explore its working version at www.kmu.gov.ua (see the link on the site's home page).
The updated Cabinet of Ministers portal is being developed in line with the latest trends in international practice, with a view to providing, within its framework, unified access to all online resources of Ukraine's executive authorities and to e-government and e-democracy systems.
For many years, most developed countries have been building an infrastructure for interaction between the government on the one hand and citizens, businesses, organisations and associations on the other, using the advantages of the global Internet. The same infrastructure is also used to unite the branches and levels of government into a single information and communication space.
Launching the Single Web Portal is the first step towards creating an e-government system in Ukraine. The purpose of the Single Web Portal is to provide round-the-clock access to information from executive authorities and other state and non-state organisations that matter for meeting citizens' primary needs (utilities, law enforcement agencies, health and recreation facilities, general education schools and preschools, etc.).
The project is implemented and supported by Softline, a Ukrainian developer of enterprise information system software. To implement and support certain information services, Softline also engages as subcontractors the META search portal, the Atlas closed joint-stock company and the LIGA legal information portal.
