Softline IT supports social initiatives of Ukrainian business

On Friday, April 20, Softline IT took part in the conference "National Policy on Business Social Responsibility as an Effective Tool for Dialogue between Government, Business and Society", held at the Ukrainian House exhibition center.

The business community and experts expressed confidence that the development of business social responsibility (BSR) should be a concern not only of companies themselves, business associations, expert and international organizations, but also of public authorities, as is the case in many countries around the world. State BSR policy should help introduce incentives to spread social responsibility practices, raise awareness of BSR among business and the public, promote standards and systems of corporate governance and the experience of Ukrainian companies, and encourage companies to develop non-financial reporting.

The need to develop state policy in the field of BSR is made more pressing by current integration processes, as leading global companies, when choosing partners in emerging markets, pay great attention to their compliance with standards on human rights, labor relations, environmental protection and so on.

The National Strategy for Business Social Responsibility in Ukraine, prepared by the business community together with the UN Global Compact Network Ukraine, the CSR Development Center and the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (UUIE), is intended to become the foundation for integrating the core norms and rules of BSR into the activities of Ukrainian companies and to help deepen dialogue between government, the real sector and society.

Having considered the draft Strategy, the conference participants agreed that it should be approved at a high state level. Therefore, in order to finalize this document and to develop a program for its implementation, a decision was made to set up an interagency working group consisting of representatives of government, academia, the real sector of the economy and the public. A corresponding appeal will be sent to public organizations, business associations and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

Once this work is completed, the business community intends to approach the government with a proposal to approve the National Strategy for Business Social Responsibility and its implementation program as documents of exceptional importance for the country's socio-economic life, its proper positioning in the processes of global and European integration, and a responsible attitude to the problems of society and the environment.

Softline IT received a special commendation from the Prime Minister of Ukraine
