According to a report by the IT Ukraine Association, Ukraine has again entered the top five countries in the world with the largest number of certified IT professionals, taking 4th place after the USA, India and Russia.
This is not the first time Ukraine has made the TOP-5 ranking: last year our country also held 4th place. Today the number of certified information technology professionals in Ukraine is about 25 thousand, while the total number of IT professionals in Ukraine, according to various estimates, ranges from 200 to 215 thousand. Ukrainian universities produce about 15,000 IT graduates every year. The number of IT professionals in Ukraine continues to grow annually and is expected to reach 315,000 by 2015. The growth in the number of specialists in this field is a natural response to the growing demand from US and Western European companies for "Ukrainian IT gurus", who have already become a kind of brand in the Western world. According to independent studies, Ukraine shows the most dynamic growth of the IT industry among all the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
"According to official data, in 2013 the volume of computer programming and other IT services delivered amounted to UAH 11.4 billion, which is 17.5% more than in the previous year. Despite the difficult political situation, IT services also grew in January 2014. In the first months of the year they amounted to UAH 842.7 million, which is 42.3% more than in the same period of 2013," said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Informatization and Information Technologies.
