Today in Ukraine, companies and individuals are beginning to use the electronic digital signature on a mass scale. Consequently, many Ukrainians ask how legitimate a document signed in this way is. Softline IT decided to provide clarification at a seminar for clients held on 18 April 2016.
The use of the electronic digital signature for signing contracts, drawing up documents on the transfer of goods/services, issuing powers of attorney and so on is provided for by the Civil Code of Ukraine, the Laws of Ukraine "On Electronic Documents and Electronic Document Management" and "On Electronic Digital Signature", and other documents. A special feature of this year's legislative changes is that, starting from 7 April 2016, the Main Department of the State Fiscal Service in Kyiv sent out letter No. 2849/K/. Note that with an electronic digital signature, unlike a paper document, the recipient can always check who signed the document. In the event of hypothetical problems, an expert examination can confirm the authenticity of the signature and the integrity of the electronic document itself.
To obtain an electronic digital signature, you need to apply to the Accredited Key Certification Centre of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine. A personal visit is not required. The signature is issued free of charge. You need to download the registration card from cskidd.gov.ua, fill it in and take it, together with a copy of your passport and tax identification number, to any tax office, where the certificate and keys will be written to your flash drive. The service is provided completely free of charge.
