On 30 November, the annual Project Management Forum in Ukraine, entitled "Calm before the offensive", took place in Kyiv. At the Forum, project managers were able to share their experience, give recommendations and gain useful information from colleagues. They could also learn about innovations in project management, new standards and interesting completed projects.
Softline also shared its achievements in the industry: Volodymyr Demianenko, Head of the Project Management Centre, spoke about the project management methods and tools that the company uses in its production activities.
"The Project Management Centre provides centralised coordination and control over the management of projects or programmes aimed at delivering benefits to the organisation. This includes properly focused high-level project management," says Volodymyr Demianenko.
Given the scale of Softline JSC's activities and the diversity of management approaches, the company decided to define and monitor the key points that make it possible to quickly assess the overall state of affairs in the holding's work and its current projects. "The task of the PMC is to develop mandatory procedures for running projects in the Corporate Information System and rules for recording staff workload, which make it possible to monitor and inform top management about all the main areas of control: staff, deadlines, labour costs and quality," the head of the centre explains.
Given the scale of control, he names the involvement of all related services as a necessary factor, such as:
· Finance service: monitoring of financial costs in line with the Baseline Plan;
· HR service: monitoring of the workload of production staff;
· Quality service: regular audits and monitoring of execution and compliance with approved procedures.
"The result is an efficient production service whose activities are visible and valuable both to the holding's board and to the company's employees," Volodymyr Demianenko sums up. According to him, the board and the heads of the holding's companies receive reliable and timely information on the state of affairs. Employees, in turn, understand the need for approved business processes and know the areas of assessment and the rules for assessing these areas during the appraisal period.
